A Message from the Pulaski Board of Education
We extend our sincere appreciation to the PACS staff and the entire school community for their dedication and support of our students and schools.
The proposed budget reflects the Board of Education’s commitment to enhancing academic opportunities while maintaining the rigorous educational standards that define our District. It ensures that students continue to have access to high-quality programs that foster learning, growth, and achievement.
At the same time, this spending plan emphasizes sustainability by carefully managing resources to optimize school operations. The Board remains mindful of economic factors affecting both the District and the community, striving to balance educational excellence with fiscal responsibility.
The proposed 2025–26 school budget totals $31,258,000, reflecting a 0% increase over last year’s budget. Although debt payments from previous capital projects have decreased—helping to offset overall costs—state aid associated with those projects has also been reduced. At the same time, operational and instructional expenses have risen. To balance these factors, the budget includes a 1.9% increase in the tax levy, or $142,225.
A public hearing to present the 2025-26 budget will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13th in the Pulaski Middle-High School Library. Voting will take place on Tuesday, May 20th from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm at the Ringgold Fire Hall. The vote will include the 2025-26 budget, a proposition to withdraw $100,000 from the bus purchase reserve, and the election of two members to the PACS Board of Education.
The budget also includes $100,000 to be used towards a capital outlay project. The New York State Education Department allows for schools to complete capital improvement projects of up to $100,000 during the proposed budget year. Building aid revenue is then received the following year (PACS state aid rate is 94%). The 2025-26 capital outlay project will replace some flooring in instructional spaces at Pulaski Middle-High School.
The Pulaski Academy & Central School District has a tradition of sound financial planning and budget development. The Board of Education and administrative team will continue to be strategic with our resources to provide opportunities and programs for students that we can all be proud of.
